For over 11 years, the sounds of Gail Kruse’s piano and organ playing have brought warmth, comfort, and connection to the residents of Allegro Tallahassee. Originally from the Midwest, Gail has called the city of Tallahassee home since 1991. A retired banking professional who still holds an active real estate license, Gail has dedicated much of her time in recent years to sharing her lifelong passion for music with Allegro.
Gail’s music journey began at the young age of five, followed by 15 years of professional training. Over the years, she has performed at weddings, memorials, and private events. Her musical career at Allegro began in June of 2014, when she was invited to play piano for residents during their dinner hour on the first Tuesday evening of the month. That single performance quickly grew to include the first, third, and now fourth Tuesdays. Today, Gail plays during lunch on the first Tuesday and during dinner on the remaining Tuesdays, providing a beautiful backdrop to residents’ mealtimes.
As her role at Allegro expanded, Gail was also asked to play the organ for Wednesday evening "Praise and Prayer" services, which were once led by beloved former residents Ima Richards and Bob Lampkin. Though both are now gone, their legacy lives on through these cherished musical traditions. Today, Gail continues to play the organ for chapel services led by Four Oaks Church on two Sunday mornings each month.
In addition to her regular performances, Gail is currently helping to form an Allegro Choir, inspired by the many residents who gather around the piano after dinner just to sing along. Her music not only entertains—it evokes memories, fosters community, and touches the hearts of all who hear it.
Gail often shares how meaningful it is to be part of the Allegro family, and how much she treasures the opportunity to bring joy through music. “It has been my privilege to be a part of this wonderful Allegro family for the past 11 years,” she says. “I hope to be able to continue playing, as I feel it brings back so many memories for our residents that may otherwise be forgotten.”
