Jackie Siering has been a valued member of the Allegro team for more than three years, but her journey with senior care—and specifically dementia care—began much earlier. What started as a deeply personal experience has grown into a passionate and purposeful career.
While still in high school, Jackie’s grandmother, Rachel, was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. At the time, Jackie knew very little about what the disease entailed, only that it meant her beloved grandmother struggled to remember. That experience sparked something in her. As part of a school volunteer project, Jackie began volunteering in a memory care community, where she was placed in the activities department. It didn’t take long for her to fall in love with the work.
“I knew quickly I found the role I was meant to be in,” Jackie later said. “I found my niche.”
After earning a bachelor’s degree in psychology, Jackie wanted more hands-on experience and applied for an activities assistant role. She was quickly hired, and from there, her path became clear. She joined Allegro part time while pursuing a master’s degree in gerontology at the University of Louisiana Monroe. Her studies, which focused on dementia and assisted living community management, aligned perfectly with the work she was already doing. After graduating in 2022, Jackie became a full-time associate at Allegro.
Jackie’s commitment to ongoing education and meaningful connection with residents has continued to grow. She recently became certified as a dementia practitioner and has even launched a caregiver and loved one support group at Allegro—a resource she wishes she’d had when her own family was navigating the uncertainty of Alzheimer’s.
“Having gone through it myself, I know how lonely and scary the process of watching a loved one go through the stages of dementia can be,” she shared. “I am very happy to be able to provide a safe, supportive environment for those who need it.”
Jackie’s story is a powerful reminder that personal experience, when paired with professional passion, can become a source of hope and strength for others. Allegro is proud to have her as part of its team and even prouder of the compassionate leadership she brings to the community every day.
