At Allegro Fort Lauderdale, community is about more than where we live. It's about how we show up for one another—and how we find ways to make a difference when others need our support.

This summer, our Allegro Fort Lauderdale community came together to help families affected by the devastating 2026 Venezuela earthquakes through a month-long donation drive benefiting Global Empowerment Mission (GEM).

From early July through early August, residents, families, team members, and professional partners of Allegro Fort Lauderdale donated essential supplies to support humanitarian relief efforts in Venezuela.

A Community That Gives Back

Giving back is an important part of life at Allegro Fort Lauderdale.

Our residents bring decades of experiences, accomplishments and life lessons with them into our community. Many have spent their lives volunteering, raising families, supporting causes they care about and helping others—and that spirit of generosity continues at Allegro.

Our Venezuela earthquake relief drive was another example of that community spirit in action.

On June 24, 2026, Venezuela experienced two powerful earthquakes in rapid succession, including a 7.5-magnitude earthquake. The earthquakes caused significant damage and left communities in need of immediate assistance.

When news of the earthquakes in Venezuela reached our community, we wanted to find a meaningful way to help.

Allegro Fort Lauderdale Turns Compassion Into Action

Allegro Fort Lauderdale chose to support Global Empowerment Mission, a disaster relief organization providing humanitarian assistance to people impacted by disasters around the world.

GEM's Venezuela response focuses on providing essential resources to families affected by the earthquakes, making the donations collected through our drive part of a larger humanitarian effort.

Residents and team members worked together to spread the word and encourage donations, while families and friends helped contribute to the collection. What started as a simple donation drive became an opportunity for our community to come together around a shared purpose.

“What has meant the most to me about organizing this drive is seeing how quickly our residents came together with such genuine compassion. They didn’t hesitate—they wanted to know how they could help, and within just two days, our first donation box was already full. Watching our residents, families and team members rally around people they may never meet has been incredibly meaningful. It truly represents the spirit of Allegro Fort Lauderdale: neighbors caring for neighbors, even when those neighbors are thousands of miles away.” — Diana Joseph, Lifestyle Director, Allegro Fort Lauderdale

Every contribution was an expression of compassion—and together, those individual acts of generosity became something much bigger.

Continuing the Spirit of Giving

While our Venezuela earthquake donation drive has come to an end, the spirit behind it continues.

At Allegro Fort Lauderdale, we believe life in a senior living community should be about more than receiving care and enjoying beautiful surroundings. It's also about staying connected to the world around us, pursuing meaningful interests and finding opportunities to make an impact.

We're proud of our residents and team members for showing what it means to be a community that cares.
